The Government of Liberia and the Resilient Council of Elders of Grand Bassa County have issued a joint statement on the expansion of the Liberia Agricultural Corporation, LAC.
The statement said a permanent solution to the LAC expansion must be characterized by dialogue and consensus.
An Agriculture Ministry release said such solution to the LAC problem be arrived at in the shortest possible period of time.
According to the statement, the solution must meet the satisfaction of all parties including the villagers, LAC and the government of Liberia.
The statement said LAC has been informed to stop its expansion into the villages in District Numbers Three, Four and Five in Grand Bassa and Rivercess Counties.
The government-Council of Elders statement also warned that there should be no attempt to undermine the rule of law by any party while a permanent solution is being sought.
The release said Agriculture Minister Dr. Chris Toe signed for the government of Liberia while Rev. Dr. Abba Karnga signed for the Resilient Council of Elders.
