.CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL NEWLY ELECTED NATIONAL OFFICERS OF UNIBOA

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NATIONAL ELECTIONS - 2007

On Sunday, May 27, 2007 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, the United Bassa (Liberia) Organization in the Americas elected officials of a new administration that will lead the organization for a new two-year term. Those elected include Mr. Alfred Dousuah as National President, Mr. Mandeh as Vice President, Mr. Ernest W. Simmons as National Treasurer (incumbent), and Mr. James Kelly as Financial Secretary. Mr. Alfred Dousuah who won the presidency over incumbent Mr. Joseph Sinyan in a highly contested and close election hails from Grand Bassa County and is a member of the North Jersey Chapter of UNIBOA. Mr. Dousuah who is a founding member of UNIBOA brings to the presidency profound and professional leadership as two-term President of the North Jersey Chapter and currently Co-chairman of his chapter’s Board of Directors..

The Vice President-elect Mr. Scott Mandeh is also a former two-term President of the Pennsylvania Chapter and currently the Co-Chairman of the Board of the Pennsylvania Chapter. Mr. Mandeh also brings lot of leadership experience to the office of the vice presidency.

Succeeding himself as an incumbent to his position of National Treasurer of UNIBOA is Mr. Ernest W. Simmons. Mr. Simmons who will serve his second term as National Treasurer did not have any challengers for the Treasurer position. Thus, some opted to abstain from voting, but when the result was announced, it was received with the loudest applause in the hall because of the high number of people who gave him the stamp of approval for another term of office. They feel that Mr. Simmons demonstrated profound and professional skill during his first term as their National Treasurer.

The newly elected National Financial Secretary, Mr. James Kelly of the Rhode Island Chapter brings fresh and strong ability and commitment to a higher office in UNIBOA because of his experience in the area of finance, especially Bookkeeping. This will be a plus to the Finance Committee of UNIBOA. Mr. Kelly was elected to his position with no challengers.

After the official announcement of the results of the elections by Mr. Benjamin Gbapaywhea, Chairman of the Elections Commission, he presented the official results to the Board of Directors headed by its Chairman, Mrs. Mydea Reeves-Karpeh. Mrs. Karpeh declared the results of the 2007 elections official. She then congratulated the elected officers and promises them that the Board will do its best to work with them in carrying out their duties responsibly with commitment to continue to build on the achievements of UNIBOA and take this great organization to a higher level. The Board of Directors acknowledges the vision of the outgoing President and his administration which continue to keep UNIBOA focus in a positive direction.

In his acceptance remarks, the newly elected President, Mr. Alfred Dousuah thanked his “New Direction” team, his supporters, all the delegates from the various chapters and the Rhode Island Chapter for their supports and for giving him the opportunity to lead UNIBOA. He acknowledges the good work the Sinyan administration has done and asks for their continue supports and contributions to the good endeavors of UNIBOA.

The outgoing President, Mr. Joseph D. Sinyan in his concession remarks, reminded the delegates, his supporters and those who voted to give him a second chance to continue the support of what his administration had achieved, most especially the two major projects on hand, the nursing program and the community center project in Grand Bassa County.
