President Alfred Dousuah (left) & V. P. Scott Mandeh (right)UNIBOA inducted its new corps of officers into office for a two-year term on September 22, 2007 in Newark, New Jersey. The Inaugural Ceremony and Ball were held at the Saint Rose of Lima Hall on Orange Street in Newark. Another highlight of the weekend was the National Board of Directors Meeting of UNIBOA which was held earlier in the day at Christ Assembly Lutheran Church Hall on Broadway, in Newark. The Board meeting was very tense with lot of debated issues, which of course got on track with some responsible compromises and resolution.
The new era of the Dousuah-Mandeh administration was officially ushered in with the blessings of the Rev. Garswa Yarmeto of Locasha Evangelical Lutheran Church of Newark who administered the oath of office.
The Keynote Speaker for the occasion was Mr. Al Gbi Toe, former National President of ULAA. After Mr. Toe had spoken, the newly installed President, Mr. Dousuah took the floor and addressed the audience. In his inaugural address, the President stressed three important keys words, unity, efficiency and transparency. Mr. Dousuah told his audience that the growth of UNIBOA depends on how well his administration will implement the desired changes as a mandate his corps of officers received from the members of UNIBOA. Mr. Dousuah said to deliver on what he and his administration promise to carry out during his term of office shall be in the spirit of unity, efficiency and transparency, and no one shall be excluded or left on the sidelines. He calls on all members of UNIBOA to join his administration in moving UNIBOA forward. He warns all members of UNIBOA not to allow themselves to be enfolded in prejudice, selfishness and disunity. “We must remain united and dedicated to our people and humanity, as a whole” Mr. Dousuah admonishes his kinsmen.
The event highlighted performances by the Philadelphia based Liberian gospel singing group, JCCA (Joint Christian Choir Association) and Tracy Gbapaywhea of the Pennsylvania Chapter of UNIBOA. The event was climaxed by a grand ball until the wee hours of the morning.
