UNIBOA INAUGURAL CEREMONY and BALL - 2011

UNIBOA officially inducted its new corps of officers into office for a two-year term on September 17, 2011 at the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church Hall in Baltimore, Maryland. Another highlight of the weekend was the National Board of Directors Meeting of UNIBOA which was held earlier in the day. The Board meeting went on well with some debated issues, as usual which of course got on track with some responsible compromises and resolution. Chairing this meeting was the Board’s Chairman, Mr. James Page of the Detroit , Michigan Chapter.

The new era of the Smith-Kelly administration was officially ushered in with the blessings of Ma Photo Joe of Amoh Bedo, the Maryland Chapter of UNIBOA. The Keynote Speaker for the occasion was Mr. Emmanuel N. Reeves. Mr. Reeves spoke on the theme, "Drivers of Change Exploring new Beginning. Other distinguished guest at the occasion was Mr. Mr. Anthony V. Kesselly, President ULAA

After Mr. Reeves had spoken, the President, Mr. Smith took the floor and addressed the audience. He call on all Bassonians living in the United States and beyond to join effort collectively for the reconstruction and development of the Bassa speaking counties in post-conflict Liberia. Mr. Reeves, a long time supporter of Uniboa made a donation of $3000.00 at the inuagural Ball to be used on its Scholarship program. This was not the first time Mr. Reeves made such a huge donation. During the Sayon’s administration, he made similar donation to fund the scholarship of the students at the Stella Maris Polytechnic’s Mother Pattern College of Health Sciences in Monrovia, Liberia. Some of those students have since graduated from the nursing school.

The organization believes that your support last Saturday clearly indicates that UNIBOA under the leadership of its National President Emmanuel G. Smith will fulfill its vsionary plan as promised duirng union 21st National Convention. The National Executive Committee is of the conviction that your presence provided hope and enthusiatism to the newly installed administration in serving as drivers of change aimed at exploring a new beginnings.

The union is calling on all Bassonians living in the United States and beyond to join effort collectively for the reconstruction and development of the Bassa speaking counties in post-conflict Liberia.

The officers that were officially empowered at the convention after the election ; and present at the formal inauguration and ceremonially inducted into office were : Emmanuel G. Smith, National President, James B. Kelly, National Vice President, Daniel Gayou, National Secretary, Agemomnen Davis, National Treasurer, Rose Allison, National Financial Secretary, Frances Potter, National Corresponding Secretary and Photo Joe, National Chaplain General respectively.

The ‘house full’ of the occassion clearly indicates the supports out there for this organization and that UNIBOA under the leadership of its new President, Mr. Smith. Those who came to witness the occassion is of the conviction that their presence provided hope and enthusiatism to the newly installed administration in serving as drivers of change aimed at exploring a new beginnings in UNIBOA. The event was climaxed by a grand ball until the wee hours of the morning.
