                       UNIBOA's 19th National Convention ends
The 19th National Convention of the United Bassa Organizations in the Americas (UNIBOA) was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from May 22 - 25, 2009. The convention was a historic one; with the first incumbent President with no changers. Also historic was the attendance of the first youngest female lawmaker, Hon. Clarice Jah from Margibi County. Senator Jab was the Special Guest Speaker at the Saturday session of the Convention. She was also given the honor to crown the new Miss UNIBOA 2009.

The Hon Gbehzohngar Milton Findley, Sr. Senator of Grand Bassa County who was in attendance and was the Key Note Speaker of the 19th National Convention. Also in attendance was the Hon. Thomas Woewiyou, formal Senator from Grand Bassa County and formal President Pro tempo of the Liberian Senate and currently, member of the Pennsylvania Chapter

After the business session and the church service, Sunday night was UNIBOA’s Annual Banquet which was spiced by musical performances by Mr. Peter Barchue Cole who came from Senegal and Ms. Brakalia Johnson who serenaded some of songs in the Grebo dialect. The Joint Christian Choir (JCCA) and Tracey Gbapaywhea also performed during the opening night and the Banquet respectively.

The Convention was climaxed by a soccer match between the Grand Gedeh County Association and UNIBOA on Memorial Day afternoon. Full details will be posted soon.


               Miss Grand Bassa County wins Miss Liberia Contest
Ms Shu-rina Wiah representing Grand Bassa County has won the 2008/2009 Miss Liberia Beauty Pageant. The 21 yr-old who is studying Public Administration at the African Methodist Episcopal University and desirous of being a Lawyer focused on defending the rights of women and children.  Read full story ....


                      Peter Cole to rock UNIBOA’s Convention
The phenomenal Liberian composer, Arranger and singer, Peter Cole, who is based in Senegal, West Africa will perform at UNIBOA’s 2009 Convention.

The newly chartered Maryland chapter of UNIBOA, “Amoh Bedo” inducted its new corps of officers into office on April 18, 2009 at a grand Inaugural Ball.
