It has been reported by the People Media Network's website that Mr. Joe V. Lavien has been nominated Father of the Year 2009 of the Christ Universal Church of Minnesota. Mr. Lavien is a member of the Minnesota Chapter of UNIBOA. Joe Lavien is the brother of Mr. Moses Lavien of North Carolina, who is himself a member of the North Carolina Chapter. Both brothers have been members of the Bassa Organization from the 1980’s.

According to the People’s News website, the ceremonies will be held on Sunday, June 7 2009 at the church edifice in Minneapolis during the regular worship service. Father's Day is a day honoring fathers, celebrated on various days in many places around the world. It complements Mother's Day, the celebration honoring mothers.

Joe Lavien is the owner of the Palm African Food Market and the Lavien Tax Service in Minneapolis. He is a tax consultant and public accountant. He is a god-fearing man who looks out for others. He embraced the Christian faith at an early age and is a member of the Christ Universal Church.

Joe is a darling husband to his wife, Jackie and a loving and caring father of many children, both biological and non-biological or foster. Evangelist George, brother of Joe who is currently visiting the United States from Liberia is expected to serve as the guest preacher. The ceremony is expected to draw a record crowd.
