QUIET REMEMBRANCE

OF

DR. HARRY FUMBA MONIBA

November 21, 2005

We, the family of the late Dr. Harry Fumba Moniba, former Vice President of Liberia, are observing a quiet remembrance of him on the first anniversary of his passing. His death in a two-car accident on November 24, 2004 in Michigan occurred while he was preparing to offer his experienced leadership to the people of Liberia. He may not have driven his vision to completion, but he tirelessly created a clear vision and consistently articulated it.

In life, Dr. Moniba wanted to provide selfless, inclusive and exemplary leadership. He cared about Liberia with passion, and always put national interest above self. He was unwavering in his commitment to peaceful change and respect for the rule of law. The multi-party system which forms the basis of elections in our country today can be counted among his major contributions to the Liberian political process.

In his home going, he did not only leave behind a lasting memory of a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he also left a legacy of national leadership with honesty and integrity. Part of his legacy will be the shining example he had set for others by being the best at what he did with common touch in both his private and public life.

We, the Moniba family, including all former volunteers of the now disbanded Moniba for President 2005 Campaign and Friends of Moniba, want to reiterate our intention to keep his legacy alive by establishing a charitable family foundation in his memory. In addition to providing a fitting and lasting memorial to him for public benefit, the foundation will serve as a means of maintaining family unity and, passing on to present and future generations, the family tradition of sharing and caring for others in society.

On behalf of the widow, Mrs. Minita Moniba and the entire Moniba family, we want to sincerely thank everyone that has offered their condolences during our tragic loss. The outpouring of concerns and affections from all quarters for our loved one and leader has been overwhelming.

As we reflect on his life today and endeavor to keep his legacy alive in the years ahead, we want to ask that you keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
