JOHN "MONKEY" BROWN

The passing of a Soccer Legend: Mr. John Teah Brown, Nationaly and affectionately known in Liberia and abroad as John “Monkey” Brown died on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Many soccer fans of the ‘60’s and early ‘70’s in Liberia and Africa had the opportunaties to watch this fallen soccer legend, known as “Monkey Brown” displayed those masterly kicks from the penalty box that nobody ever mastered. In the coming days and hours we all shall remember this gentle giant of soccer who brought glory to Liberia during the decades he played for Barrolle and Liberia’s National Team, the Lone Star.
It cannot be overstated or captured in words how this legend inspired many of the youths of his time on the soccer field and how much he meant to Liberia.
We all are sadden by the death of John “Monkey” Brown who had a long and distingished career as a soccer player. He played many international games, games that defined Liberia in the world of soccer as we know it today. He will be greatly missed. May God bless his soul.
