North Carolina Chapter Re-organized

By James Horace

North Carolina

The North Carolina Chapter of UNIBOA, one of the pillars of the union, which has been idled and stayed away from the activities of UNIBOA for few years have been invigorated. The chapter inactiveness was due to the absence of good leadership. Former chapter leaders, members, and those who relocated in the state found it necessary to join forces with their kinsmen to piece together things and reorganize the chapter to become a vibrant chapter once again.

Mr. Joseph Davies, the Interim Chairman of the North Carolina chapter worked vigorously in collaboration with the Dousuah Administration and former leaders of the chapter. The hard work and determinations of these sons and daughters have resulted to the rejuvenation of the chapter. The chapter is on its way back into the main stream of UNIBOA. In the past, the North Carolina Chapter was one of the pillars of unity and strength in UNIBOA. The North Carolina chapter produced several national leaders including two National Vice Presidents.

Now they are back, the task ahead now is to behold the new born unity that will yield solidarity that UNIBOA has treasured since its birth.

Special credit goes to those who fought very hard and thanks to the Dousuah’s administration for the revitalization of the chapter. The return of North Carolina in the forefront is an added strength to UNIBOA in its mission of service to the need of our people in the Bassa counties in Liberia and the Diaspora.

As a result of the hard work of the people of North Carolina under the Interim leadership of Mr. Joseph Davis, the chapter held a free and fair General Election on January 6, 2008 and installation program is now being planned. The following officers were elected for a two-year term:

  1. Mr. Brucein H. Myers ------------------------ President

  2. Mrs. Joanna Cole ----------------------------- Vice President

  3. Mr. Jeremiah A. Harris ----------------------- Secretary

  4. Mr. Mathew M. Browne --------------------- Financial Secretary

  5. Mr. Africans Nathan ------------------------- Treasurer

  6. Rev. Joseph Cheese man ------------------- Chaplain

The following members were elected to serve on the Board of Advisors:

  1. Mr. Moses Lavien

  2. Mrs. Margaret Matue

  3. Ms. Joyce Wah

  4. Ms. Pauline Wah

  5. Mrs. Agnes Brown-Remmie

The members of UNIBOA join the Dousuah administration to say congratulations to Mr. Brucein and her corps of officers for the newly revamped chapter. We all wish you good luck in your endeavors and we will see you at your Inauguration and most importantly, in Minnesota, at the 18th National convention

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MEEMBERS FOR THEIR COURAGE AND HARD WORK!
