The United Bassa Association in the Americas (UNIBOA), has donated a purse of US$625.00 each to three orphanages in Liberia .

The three orphanages that benefited from the UNIBOA's gesture were the Mission for Orphanages, Disabled & Unaccompanied Children and the Lighthouse Children Ministry both of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County and the Children Rehabilitation and Orphanage Home in Iron Factory, Gardnersville.

The president of the Pennsylvania Chapter of UNIBOA, Mr. Scott Mandeh made the presentations Saturday on behalf of the national president, Mr. Joseph Sayon.

Mr. Mandeh said the organization was concerned about the well-being of Liberian children after nearly 15 years of bloodletting in the country.

He admonished the children not to lose hope but to continue to trust God who is the caretaker of orphans.

Mr. Mandeh further indicated that he sees a brighter future for the war-weary children of Liberia under the able leadership of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Receiving the amounts, the heads of the institutions, Thomas Beh, Newport Grigsby and Isaac Gboneh thanked the United Bassa Association in the Americas for the gesture and said the money would go a long way in meeting the needs of the children.

The three proprietors then appealed to other Liberian organizations abroad to emulate the good examples of the United Bassa Association. It can be recalled, during the Taylor-led government, the United Bassa Association (UNIBOA) sent a consignment of used clothing, copy books and test books to their kinsmen ( the Bassa speaking counties) to alleviate their suffering at the time.
